Yesterday I was feeling bloated, and I looked in the mirror at myself, and my face was bloated a bit and I felt old. Yes, it happens even to the best of us, a day when you feel like crap and you look at yourself in the mirror and that mirror reflects how you feel.
I also had the joy of looking after a friend’s 8 year old son, and kids are brutally honest. They will tell you the truth in their own brutal honest way, without being malicious about it. When a kid tells you something about yourself, you know it’s true.
As I played some table tennis with my little friend, something was mentioned about age, and I told him when he gets to my age blah blah blah. He looked up and nonchalantly asked me how old I was, and I told him that I was fifty.
He stopped, placed his paddle down on the table and looked at me with disbelief. Here goes I thought, the brutal honesty of an 8 year old.
Instead of him commenting on how I looked older than fifty, he told me “I thought you were a lot younger than that! I thought you were around thirty five. My dad is forty five and you don’t look any where near that“. I love kids!
