Stop Obsessing And Just Live

When hunting for something, don’t just keep your eye on the prize, but be sure to always look around you, otherwise you might just get bitten in the ass.

~ Basil Rene

I get a few emails a week from readers of my blog just saying “hi” or to give me support and advice and a few to ask advice. Some are down right full of panic from people that have been recently diagnosed and are desperately looking for a cure.

First off, unless you are a researcher in a bunker down in the bowels of the earth some where, and you are keeping secrets, there is no cure for sarcoidosis, as yet.

I don’t mean to burst anyone’s bubble, but it’s the truth. And some people, from their emails, are sitting at their computer all day, searching and researching and looking. Looking for something that has not happened yet.

Yes there are alternative modalities and medications that help, and I don’t down cry anyone for looking, but you have to live your life for you, not the disease. Obsessing over it and worrying 24 hours a day is not living. That is when sarcoidosis has truly taken over and is controlling your life. Like the hound dog that has his eye and mind focused in only one thing, he fails to see life passing by him, and like the fox, life will sneak up behind you and bite you in the ass.

You will be so in tune for looking for a cure that you will fail to see what your body is telling you. Listen well. Pay attention. Your body is telling you what you are doing right and what you are doing wrong.

The major reason I am alive today is because I listen to my body. And how does one listen to their body? Close off google, turn off the computer for a while, go find somewhere in nature to walk alone, and just be with yourself for once. Truly walk and listen to your body. Feel each breath going in and out. Quiet your mind, and listen. Feel. Observe. You’ll be surprised how much your body will tell you. Ideas may pop into your head about approaches to take, questions to ask your doctor. But most of all, feel where it hurts. What doesn’t feel just right and make a mental note.

You may start to think too much, and that’s natural. You will probably actually start concentrating too much and start looking for what you are feeling. Stop. You are just repeating yourself on the computer in your mind. Stop asking your body questions, instead let your body talk to you! Quiet your mind and move on.

It’s not easy, especially if you are a type A personality, but give it a try. You might just find out a lot more about yourself and what you truly need from you rather than sitting in front of a computer for hours on end every day.

  1. This post is so incredible I am going to reblog it on mine. I only wish I could have read something like this last year….but, I might not have been ready to “hear” the message then. I am slowly….hearing it now. 🙂 As I’m gaining strength.
