I was in bed at 12:30 last night. That’s an early night for me. I was tired and I hit the sack, closed my eyes and – nothing. I could not fall asleep. I tossed and I turned until I looked at the clock and it was 2:00 am. I decided I would read some magazines on my iPad. I finally started to feel sleepy and actually dozed off. I put down my iPad and looked at the clock. 4:05 am!
I fell asleep quickly, thankfully and then I woke up all bright eyed and bushy tailed – at 7:15 am. It’s now 7:30 and I can’t fall back to sleep. I guess this would be classified as insomnia? The good thing is that I am on vacation this week and next week, so if I need to nap it’s not an issue. Well that’s not true, because if I stay up, I will need to nap around 3:00 pm, and even if I set my alarm, I will probably sleep until 7:00 pm, and then the whole damned cycle repeats itself.
I have been off with my medicine these past couple of weeks and I took my prednisone late on a few consecutive occasions. Prednisone is known to cause insomnia, and it’s recommended that you take it before 9:00 am. So now my body clock is off and I have to reset it. Maybe I’ll just not nap and hit the sack at 10:00 tonight. Now, however, as I write this blog, I am starting to feel sleepy again. Maybe I’ll just go back to bed. Or should I stay up? I think prednisone also causes indecision!
