Weight Loss & Hypnosis

I stood in front of the mirror the other day and really looked at my self, and the person looking back at me is not the same man that started this journey. My physical changes are not only on the inside, but on the outside as well. The man that started this journey was 30 pounds lighter and had a lot more physical ability. Rather than drive home, or take a cab, I would walk 8 miles home from work. I hiked. I explored. Now all that has come to a stop, and due to the decreased physical activity, I have gained weight. Being on prednisone for going on seven years did not help very much either.

As the great Dr. Alvin Teirstien once told me, “a pill does not weigh anything”, meaning that it technically was not the prednisone but the fact that my activity level decreased and my food intake did not. And so I looked for ways to take off the weight through diet, and it has not worked.

Then I came across a company called “Hungry Heart”, and they claim that they do not go the diet route like weight watchers and the other weight loss companies, but they claim to retrain your relationship with food through counseling, education and hypnosis. Yes, I said hypnosis. It was an Amazon deal where you pay a minimal charge for the first consult. I took it and I went to the first consult two weeks ago.

I was skeptical and expected (and did get) a sales pitch for a bunch of sessions. I got one hypnosis session and honestly, I have no recollection of it. I started and next thing I knew I was being told to wake up. I have no idea what was said. However, I realize that I am not having the prednisone hunger attacks that I have on a daily basis, my sweet cravings diminished a bit, and I lost two pounds! Is it a result of the session? I have no idea. But I decided that I will try it out. See if it works. I’ll keep you updated.

Have you tried hypnosis to lose weight or stop smoking, and did it work for you?

I have gained 30lbs since this all started six months ago. Currently I am having one of those “steroid cravings” right now. My kid ate all of the oreos. Thanks for the post. I might have to look into it since I may never come off of the steroids. Thank you for sharing.

As a therapist myself with a specific interest in weight loss, I would be interested to know what method of hypnosis you’ve been having? I appreciate you don’t really remember much of the session but do you know if you were asked any questions whilst in hypnosis, or did the hypnotherapist just provide lots of suggestions and instructions? There are various applications of hypnotherapy but the fact that you’ve noticed some positive changes is fantastic. I hope you continue to notice these improvements. Best of luck!

I am so sorry that I did not reply to your comment, but for some reason it never showed up in my notifications. I had three sessions so far, and the hypnosis is in addition to counseling. The hypnosis sessions are all suggestive with no questions asked and also I have been given affirmations.
