This Is A Blogging From A To Z April 2014 Challenge Post
I came across a post on Twitter that I found really cool. It's a topic that most people don't want to talk about, but the truth is, we are all going to die, and the fact is, although I hope that I live a long time, the chances are that I may go before my wife. “Statistics” gave me I only had about five years back in 2007, and I am still here, so life's looking up!
It's called spirit tree, and here's what you do. If you decide to be cremated, your loved ones place your ashes in a special container with a seedling, and the seedling derives it's nutrients from your ashes, and you become a tree. How cool is that?
If that tree stays around for a hundred years after you die, just think of all the birds and other animals that it would provide shelter for. What better way to commemorate your life on this planet that by providing life to others long after you are gone.
Very creative idea.

I think it is so much better than an urn sitting on a mantle. 😀

I have to agree with you on that. And you can always save a tiny amount of ashes for sentimental reasons if the other person (surviving spouse) wants to be buried with the ashes. Some people prefer burial over cremation.

You can also have ashes turned into diamonds too! Another great way to keep the person with you.
