I Found A Solution To My Dilemma Of Shaving

After years of being on prednisone for my sarcoidosis, my skin has thinned and sensitive. Add to that blood thinners, and I bruise if you look at me to hard. O shaving has become a chore and something I don't look forward to at all. In the summer months I shave every two or three days, and if my schedule allows, I don't shave at all for sometimes the whole week. My wife loves the scruffy three day unshaven look, but when winter comes, it's a whole new ball game for me.

In never had much facial hair. I could grow a jousts ha but not until I started to take one particular medication, I started to grow a full beard, and the fuzz I had on the center of my chest and stomach became a much thicker growth that spread across my whole chest ad my lower abdomen. The stubble on my face after a day or two of growth is long enough that it gets caught in the zipper of my hoddie or jacket, and it plays havoc on some of my scarves, making them look life fuzz ball haven.

Long story short, a beard is a nuisance to me in the winter, so I have to shave every day. And therein lies the issue of the thin, sensitive skin. If I use a regular razor, I always get usually multiple ones. And sometimes they bleed, and bleed, and bleed. The when I use an electric shaver, it burns the skin and I get this redness on my neck that lasts all day. I tried different gels and lotions and razors, all wth the same results. Pain.

Then the other day I came across this razor called the Norelco Sensotouch 3D razor, and I read the reviews and decided to give it a try. The model I decided to get is a bit expensive ($240.00 US), but it comes with a cleaning device etc. the cool thing about the razor is that it is a wet/dry electric razor and the first time I tried it, I got a little irritation using it dry, but no where as bad as other razors. Then I used it wet, and it was a lot better. Then I bought some Neutrogena sensitive skin shaving products for men and it's been a week and no irritation, no cuts, no redness, no razor bumps. It usually takes at least 21 shaves for a razor to adjust to your skin, but it's just been seven and I love it.

So if you are a guy and have really sensitive skin, I really strongly suggest you try the Norelco Sensotouch 3D line of shavers. There are cheaper models than the one I bought, but I love gadgets and really like the cleaning machine it came with.

Note: I have no affiliation with Phillips or Norelco and have not been compensated in any form for this review.

  1. We are sorry to hear that you have gone through so much when it comes to performing your daily activities. We are glad you found a great electric razor that can help with sensitive skin, and hope that it continues to be great for you! We’re curious, have you ever considered a wet shave or using a safety edge combined with creams and a brush to make your morning shave better? If not, perhaps you might consider the effects of it. At the same time, if you are using hot water for your skin before shaving, consider cold water as it may affect the person’s shave when it comes to sensitive skin.
