FaceBook just changed their “Feeling Fat” emoji title to “Feeleing Stuffed” after protests from users who said that it promoted online body shaming. I don't know about anyone else, but when I eat too much, I feel fat! My damned pants can't button. I know what it feels like to feel fat. I recently gained 35 pounds and I felt fat. Yes fat. Fat fat fat fat fat fat. There. I said it. Fat.
Feeling stuffed is when my stomach is full. Feeling fat is when your clothes don't fit. If you're fat, you're fat. Get over it! Stop expecting everyone to tip toe around you. You are fat!
The emoji refers to the person that is posting to their status. They are feeling fat. What the hell are you getting offended for? The only shame is your own. No one can make you feel ashamed unless you choose to be. So if you don't like the word “fat” because you are ashamed of the way you look, there is simple solution. Loose it. No one forced that last donut down your throat. And I am sure that someone will say that I am being insensitive to those with an eating disorder. Eating disorder or not, fat, is fat, is fat. Geez! Next thing we will not be able to say “I feel fat” but instead we will have to say ” Oh dear, I feel as is I have allowed some unwanted adipose tissue to unknowingly accumulate around the mid section of my torso, but this is in no way directly related to the proportion of food which mysteriously finds its way down my throat every day.”
Ok, I will step off of my soap box.
