Back in July, we went to the Hudson Valley Balloon festival on the banks of the Hudson River, in Poughkeepsie, NY. We got there late, and all of the balloons already left except for one that was giving “rides”. The “ride” consisted of getting into a tethered balloon that would rise up 100 ft for about twenty seconds and then come back down. All that excitement for $20.00 a person. I passed. We did get to see them inflate a couple balloons for the “moon” glow. I thought they were going to rise just after sunset and glow. Well I was naive. They just stayed on the ground and blasted them with flame, and that's how they “glowed”. All in all I learned to get to an event when they advertise the start, and not leave home and hour away at the start time. It was a beautiful evening in any case, and we did have a lovely dinner afterwards.
Even so, they do look kind of beautiful at night, though.

True. The photos really don’t do them justice but I think the effect may have been much more awesome up in the air.

Yes, that’s true. If lit up balloons look that nice on the ground, they’d probably look amazing in the sky.
