I have cardiac sarc and started taking cellcept or MMF at the direction of Dr. Chen at the Sarcoidosis Clinic at Johns Hopkins in Baltimore. I was taking 3 grams a day which is a large dose. I took MMF for almost a decade until during an annual physical my PCP noted my white blood count was dangerously low to the point he warned me if you have a sore throat or anything you need you come see me immediately. I stopped taking it after I determined that MMF was causing me to have neurological issues such as insomnia, anxiety, paranoia, etc. I also started experiencing dangerous arrhythmias. After stopping and to this day my wbc and rbc are abnormal to the point I was referred to a hematologist who said it the after effect of the MMF. MMF probably saved me and I would go back on if I had to but everything comes with a cost.

The side effects of these meds can be so extreme. We’re damned if we take them and damned if we don’t! Hope you are better. Thanks for stopping by!
