I recently started working with a breathing coach to retrain my breathing. One of the things they mentioned was that people can only chew for as long as they hold their breath, so I should take smaller bites. I challenged this and told them that when I chew, I continue to breathe through my nose as I chew, which they found to be … different.
I was wondering how weird am I to continue to breathe while I chew. Just how many people actually do as I do and how many hold their breath while chewing?
On that note, I would love if you could take my poll to determine just how do the majority of people actually chew and breathe.
POLL IS NOW CLOSED
If you are interested in the results of the poll, there are none. Despite over 75 “views” and some “likes” of the post, as of 12/18/20, not a single person actually answered the poll.

I think it actually depends on how sweet or peppery the meal is. Cos if it is, I may hold my breath to savor the flavours but if it’s not I just breath normally. I guess that’s why people do the extensive mhmmmmm after trying something mouthwatering.

Thanks Eromonsele! I guess the “normal” thing to do is what ever is comfortable for the person. Stay safe!
